Mirrors and labyrinths are the most potent of Borges's symbols; of mirrors, he writes, "I feared sometimes that they would begin to veer off from reality", and assures us that the heresiarchs of Uqbar regarded mirrors as an abomination. For Alexandra Kirli (Greece,1957), who has produced a series of images directly inspired by her readings of Borges, "mirrors and their transparency are the bridge between the fantastic and our world".
