A CABINET OF PHOTOGRAPHIC CURIOSITIES
AAS GALLERY 2
Co-organised by the French Institute
The Cabinet of Photographic Curiosities consists of a collection of curiosities created by enlarging and mutating a variety of scanned botanical materials and scientific or documentary images so as to produce elements of imaginary architecture and landscape, as well as a set of virtual plant specimens. The collection only partly fits into display cases. Proliferating rhythmically across a variety of scales from a few sq. cm. to 1x0.30 metres, the images are also used to set up the colonnaded space of the cabinet itself, which opens out on to a grove of living pillars.
