Nothing serious, though. Seven a.m. Round the fire in the drum. Warming the hands, thawing the tonsils. And then it's up with the adze, the shovel, the cement-mixer, the forms, let's have no rain to spoil the concrete, no rain to wash out a day's wages... The photographer does not intrude; he simply visits, joins the group, warming his hands at the fire and exchanging jokes. He does not steal their souls: he takes their picture, says "so long", leaves, comes back, is greeted with a "what's up, doc?", then it's "shove over a bit", "do something about that hair, mate", and they laugh, spit on their hands, and go back to work. Thanasis Raptis Stavros Dagtzidis was born in 1948 in Komotini. A founding member and a member of the Board of the Thessaloniki Photography Centre, he has taken part in numerous group exhibitions. This, his second one-man show, consists of ten plastic-coated 120 x 130 cm photographs hung high on the scaffolding of a building under construction.
